Off to Camp Footprints, BBL!

Hey Pico's! I'm going to take a step back from the Pico world for a moment and tell you about something very special to me.

I'm currently packing my things and getting ready to volunteer at a week-long summer camp called Camp Footprints. It is not your typical camp; it's an organization dedicated to children with disabilities and/or that come from less privileged backgrounds. What makes it even more unique is the ratio between camper to counselor is 1:1. We stress this ratio to really concentrate on the kids and their time with us.

During the next week, we will camp out in the mountains and not only show the kids a great time where they can be surrounded by their peers, but will also show the counselors what it means to truly give selflessly. For some families this is their vacation, as having some of these children is a 24/7/365 job. For some kids, this is when they actually get to eat until they are full.

To be clear, I'm not writing this in hopes of a donation (although, since we are 100% donation funded, we won't turn down anyone's generosity!); I simply want to remind everyone to remember to give back to others. Pay it forward. There are people everywhere who aren't nearly as fortunate as us who can afford our Pico lives. We have jobs, we go to school, we eat until we're full. These are just a few things we take for granted, things that not everyone is able to achieve without a little help.

I know that times are tough, but I hope that everyone will consider helping out a cause of their choice. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday when you are able. Every little bit helps, even if it's just a few dollars, canned goods or clothes. :)

Thanks for listening! *steps off soapbox*

P.S. If you'd like to donate to Camp Footprints (all tax-deductible), go here and click the PayPal button.
